前回の絞り染め神奈川沖浪裏＃１０では、タコ帽子絞りの解き作業の中で、普通なら気づかないレアなポイントを紹介しました。
今回の＃１１では、空部分を染めるためにもう一度生地を絞り、ぼかし染め技術を用いて空部分をさび鴇色＋グレーで染めでいく工程を紹介します。

In #11 this time, the fabric is tied again to dye the sky part, and will be dyed in light pink and gray with the gradation dyeing technique.
大変多くの染め分け部分があり、8回以上もの染色回数が必要となる本作品の制作工程では、生地を「絞る」「染める」「解く」の繰り返し作業を何度も行います。

そして今回＃１１では、絞り編最終動画として、本作品の制作過程の中で最大サイズの芯（直径14㎝）を使用して生地を絞る特大帽子の10分動画をアップします。(貴重映像です)
特に麻糸を引き締めて絞る際に出る「音」を聞いてみてください。どれだけの力で麻糸を引っ張っているかが伝わる、臨場感ある映像となっています。
This is a 10 minute video of Tokudai boushi shibori using the largest core (14 cm in diameter) in the production of this work.
Enjoy the video that gives you the feeling of being there and listen to the 'sound' especially when tightening the linen thread. You can see how much force is pulling the linen thread.
特大帽子の場合はどうしても麻の緒（括り糸）の締まりが悪くなる為、最後に「込み」作業（芯の周りに紙を込む）を行います。込み作業を行うことにより、麻の緒（括り糸）がより締まり、帽子が泣く（防染不良）リスクが下がります。
In case of Tokudai boushi shibori, the tightness of the linen thread (binding thread) loosens because of using a large core, so 'Komi' (paper is squeezed around the core) is performed. by doing 'komi', the linen thread (binding thread) becomes tighter and the risk of leaking dye resistance is reduced.
生地が絞りあがると、色や染め部分の確認を染め職人と念入りに行い、そして、染色工程へと進んでいきます。
When the fabric is tied up, we carefully check the color and parts where will be dyed with the dyeing craftsman, and then proceed to the dyeing process.
「ぼかし染め」で空の上部分をさび鴇色、下部分をグレー色に染色します。
The upper part of the sky is dyed in light pink and the lower part is dye in gray by 'gradation dyeing'.
赤色の糸がぼかし線となり、このラインに合わせて生地を下から上に徐々に染めていきます。
The red thread shows a gradation line, and the fabric is gradually dyed from bottom to top according to this line.
3枚の生地はそれぞれのぼかし部分が異なるため、別々に生地を染色する必要があります。生地を同時に染色することができないため、色合わせが通常の染色より難しくなります。また、今回の空色のように淡い色の場合は、さらに色を合わせるのが難しくなるため、染め職人はいつも以上に集中して生地を染色していきます。
長年の経験、技術がないと色合わせどころか、生地をしっかりと染めきることすら出来ません。
Each of the three fabrics has a different gradation line, so the fabric has be dyed separately. Color matching is more difficult than regular dyeing because the fabrics cannot be dyed at the same time. What is more, it is very difficult to match the colors of pale colors such as the sky color this time, so the dyeing craftsman will concentrate on dyeing the fabric more than usual.
Without many years of experience and skill, it is not possible to even dye the fabric properly, let alone match the colors.
染色前、染色中、「あ～、これはホンマに大変やで～、どないしよ～ 大変やで～ こんなもん、どないせぇちゅうねん」と、何度もつぶやく職人さんでしたが、さすがプロの技術、最高の腕前で生地を完璧に染色してくれました。
Before and during dyeing, the craftsman muttered many times, 'oh, this is really hard, it's hard, how can I do this' , but it is true, With professional skill, he dyed the fabric perfectly.

染色工程が終わると生地を包んでいたビニールを解きます。防染されていた生地部分がビニールから出てくる瞬間映像です。
After the dyeing process, the plastic sheet that wrapped the fabric is unraveled. A video of the resist-dyed fabric part coming out from the plastic sheet.
さあ次回＃１２では、本作品最後の染色箇所である、船上の荷物部分（青）の染色までを紹介していきます。
